Stimulus Funds Promoting Road Projects

Assemblyman Kelvin Atkinson, Chairman of the Assembly Transportation Committee, noted that September's employment figures for road projects funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act topped 1.3 million dollars.

"I'm pleased that the stimulus funds are being used to employ nearly 500 Nevadans on critical road projects in the state." said Assemblyman Atkinson.  "It's a start.  Much of the federal stimulus funds have yet to move into 'shovel-ready' projects, and I'm working with state and federal officials to help speed those projects along.  While the national economy appears to be improving, here in Nevada we know that our economy will not begin to recover until we put our citizens back to work."
