June Legislative Update

Dear Neighbor—

It’s getting warmer every day and most kids are out of school for the summer, but legislative activities continue. We are actively preparing for the next legislative session with some of the most challenging issues our state has seen in decades. A few of the issues we will discuss in the coming months include how to create jobs and diversify the economy, the use and production of energy, child welfare and juvenile justice, local governments and health care. You will find several of the upcoming meetings in June and July listed below. As always, a complete list of all the legislative meetings can be found on the legislative website, www.leg.state.nv.us.

February Legislative Update

Dear Friend,

I want to thank everyone who attended the legislative town hall this past Saturday to present ideas on how best to get our state budget back into balance with our newly projected budget shortfall of $881 million.  Overflow rooms were needed to seat the estimated 600 people. Because of the number of people who wanted to testify, the hearing lasted almost seven hours.
